Abstract: O,O’-bis -di-α-naphthyldithiophosphate of lead(II) corresponding to [(α-C10H7O)2PS2]2Pb, has been synthesized by the reaction of PbCl2 in 2:1 molar ratio with sodium salt of O,O’-di-α-naphthyldithiophosphate in refluxing chloroform. This complex has been characterized by elemental analyses, C, H, S, Pb and further characterization by some spectroscopy analyses, namely, IR and NMR (1H, 13C and 31P) has been carried out. Monomeric nature of this complex has been confirmed and lead atom is four coordinately bonded to two bidentate dithiophosphate ligands leading to a square planar geometry around the lead atom.
